U nabs Rob Letterman ghost pic

'Monsters vs. Aliens' director sells low-budget chiller 'Paranormalists'

Universal Pictures' Syfy Films has acquired "Paranormalists," a pitch from Rob Letterman ("Monsters vs. Aliens"), who is attached to write and direct the project.

Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will pro duce, while Kim Roth and Sarah Bowen will exec pro duce. Syfy senior VP of production Gregory Noveck will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.

Story, which falls within the found-footage genre, follows two stoners and a tech guy who stumble upon some paranormal activity for the first time.

In addition to the animated pics "Monsters vs. Aliens" and "Shark Tale," Letterman previously directed "Gulliver's Travels," He's also exec producing "Stretch Armstrong" for Relativity Media.

Letterman is repped by WME.
