French-Canadian laffer "Starbuck" won the audience choice award at the 27th Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which wrapped Sunday.
The Panavision Spirit Award for independent cinema went to "Up There," directed by Zam Salim, who wona a $60,000 value Panavision camera package.
Best docu went to "Pretty Old," directed by Walter Matteson, about contestants of a Senior Sweetheart Beauty Pageant. "Barrymore," starring Christopher Plummer and directed by Erik Canuel, won a special jury prize for artistic distinction.
International film award went to Ismael Ferroukhi's French/Algerian historical drama "Free Men," while the Nueva Vision award for Spanish/Latin American film went to "Found Memories," directed by Julia Murat.
The Cinema Nouveau award for French featurewent to "Heat Wave," directed by Jean-Jacques Jauffret.
"Dirty Energy," about the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill, won the Fund for Santa Barbara Social Justice award.
The 11-day event closed with a screening of Nadine Labaki's "Where Do We Go Now."
