Variety president Neil Stiles has been elected chairman of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles, the org announced following a Dec. 12 vote.

Outgoing chair and "American Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe will occupy a fifth slot on the executive committee.

BAFTA/LA, which was established in 1987, is the only Anglo-American professional organization founded to promote and advance original work in film, television and interactive media.
