"It was actually a complete surprise. I was out Christmas shopping for my young son, and didn't even realize the Golden Globe nominations were today. I came out of a card shop, and my partner David told me, 'Hey, you were just nominated for a Golden Globe,' which was a nice way to start the morning. I'm very happy to be nominated with Bernie (Taupin), my songwriting partner for so many years. He's won one for 'Brokeback Mountain' and I won for 'The Lion King,' but we've never won one together."
