'2 Broke Girls'
LONDON -- U.K. pubcaster Channel 4 has acquired the rights to laffer "2 Broke Girls" from Warner Bros. Intl. Television Distribution.
The sitcom, which will air in the U.S. on CBS on Mondays from Sept. 19, toplines Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs as girls from opposite ends of the social spectrum who wind up as waitresses in the same Brooklyn diner.
The series is written by Michael Patrick King ("Sex and the City") and stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings. It is exec produced by King and is produced by Bonanza Prods.
Gill Hay, head of acquisitions for Channel 4, said: "It is a rare thrill to find a new comedy that is effortlessly funny, warm-hearted and which has such a broad audience appeal."
