Mandalay Vision has picked up film rights to Zenescope Entertainment's graphic novel "The Piper." Adam Alleca ("Last House on the Left") has been tapped to pen the adaptation of the horror thriller.
Matthew Rhodes, prexy of Mandalay Vision, previously was developing the book as a film when he ran Persistent Entertainment in 2009.
"Matt Rhodes has a wonderful vision for the film, and is an incredibly collaborative producer," said Zenescope's Ralph Tedesco.
Mandalay Vision ("Soul Surfer," "Bernie") is the indie arm of Peter Guber's Mandalay Pictures.
Joining Rhodes in producing "The Piper" pic will be Aaron Cruze, Dan Keston, AI president Dave Brown, and Zenescope co-founder Joe Brusha and editor-in-chief Ralph Tedesco.
"The Piper" debuted in 2007 and is a modern retelling of the Pied Piper, this time about a high school student who methodically tries to kill all his classmates and teachers.
Management firm Artist Intl., which reps Zenescope's library of comicbooks, packaged the deal.
