Radar pumps sci-fi 'Heart of Darkness'

Peter Cornwell to direct spacebound adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel

Radar Pictures is taking the plunge into "Heart of Darkness," tapping Peter Cornwell ("The Haunting in Connecticut") to direct an adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel as a spacebound sci-fi pic.

Titled "Into Darkness," script was written by Tony Giglio and thesp-turned-writer Branden Morgan, who met when Giglio directed Morgan in "Timber Falls" and "In Enemy Hands." Like Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now," the project is loosely based on Conrad's 1902 tale of ferryboat captain Charles Marlow's quest to return shadowy ivory trader Kurtz to civilization.

Radar topper Ted Field and Mike Weber are producing. Arclight Films is handling foreign sales.

Morgan recently starred opposite Ed Harris in the indie "Once Fallen." Giglio also penned "Death Race 2" and is writing "Death Race 3."

Cornwell is repped by UTA and the Gotham Group. Giglio is repped by Paradigm and New Wave Entertainment. Morgan is repped by Principato-Young.
