Warner Bros. has decided to reboot "The Bodyguard," setting up an updated remake of the 1992 hit with Warner-based Dan Lin producing.

Scripting team of Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer have been tapped to script. Mark Bauch will co-produce.

The original film was directed by Mick Jackson and centered on a former Secret Service agent, portrayed by Kevin Costner, hired to protect a famous singer, played by Whitney Houston. The male lead in the new version will be an Iraqi war vet.

Lin's producing credits include both "Sherlock Holmes" pics. He's been developing "Godzilla," ":Gangster Squad" and "Lego."

Warner Bros. bought action comedy spec "Family Getaway" in September from the team of Friedman and Palmer and set that project up with Mosaic Media Group. Story's focused on an assassin whose Thanksgiving dinner with his family is interrupted by rival killers, leading to him taking the family on a cross-country car chase.

The scribes are repped by UTA and Mosaic.
