Showtime believes in 'Make Believe'

Award-winning doc acquired for April TV premiere

Showtime has acquired "Make Believe," winner of best documentary at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and will premiere it April 12 before it goes on a theatrical run.

"Make Believe" follows the personal lives of six young magicians as they pursue of a teen world champion title. J. Clay Tweel directed, with Ed Cunningham and Seth Gordon of Level 22 exec producing.

Tweel previously served as assistant editor on "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," which Gordon directed and Cunningham produced, and "Freakonomics."

A sneak preview of the film will be held Feb. 28 at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, but the film's official theatrical run will commence in May, with New York and Los Angeles among the release cities."Make Believe" also won the audience award at the Austin Film Festival.
