Charles Huddleston and Michele Martin have launched Terran Enterprises as a film-TV production shingle with a pair of features -- drama "Assisting Venus" and comedy "Dadgum Texas."
Huddleston serves as prexy- CEO while Martin is managing partner.
Terran will initially produce three to four feature films a year, half with budgets under $1 million and the other half in the $5 million- $10 million range. Financial backing comes from private equity sources in the U.S. and South America.
"Venus," directed by Huddleston from a screenplay he co-wrote with Martin, stars Michael Steger ("90210"), Martin, Jordan Bridges ("Rizzoli and Isles") and Julian Sands. Story centers on a young man hired as an assistant to a dominant woman.
"Dadgum," stars Martin, Martin Morales, Jeff Fahey ("Lost"), Dana Wheeler-Nicholson ("Friday Night Lights") and Peggy Stewart ("The Office").
It's also written by Martin and directed by Huddleston, with the story focused on a small-town darling whose fiance, a semi-pro football player, falls in love with her wedding planner.
On the TV side, Terran aims to develop and produce cost-efficient reality-based programming, scripted series, specials, sitcoms and telepics for cable networks.
