West End satirical comedy "Yes, Prime Minister" has recouped in just five weeks, according to producer Matthew Byam Shaw.
It transferred to London's Gielgud Theater from a limited run this summer at regional powerhouse Chichester Festival Theater and has already taken in excess of £2.5 million ($4.1 million) at the box office.
Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn's play, based on characters from the BBC TV series they wrote in 1980, stars David Haig and Henry Goodman.
Despite its profoundly English subject matter, the play, about quasi-fictional, behind-the-scenes finagling in the U.K. coalition government, has already excited interest in numerous territories worldwide.
