Sean McGinly, who wrote and directed "The Great Buck Howard," has been tapped to adapt indie crime drama "The Old Man and the Gun."

Anthony Mastromauro is producing for Identity Films with Identity exec Stephanie Striegel co-producing.

Project is based on an article by David Grann about lifelong bank robber and prison escape artist Forrest Tucker, who evaded law enforcement nationwide for two decades after escaping San Quentin in 1979. He was finally apprehended in 1999, at age 79, while trying to stick up one last bank.

Mastromauro is also developing "The Don Dawson Story."

McGinly is repped by CAA.
