Garner, Nolte in talks for 'Arthur' remake

Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are in talks for Warner Bros.' remake of "Arthur," opposite Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Greta Gerwig.

Garner will play the role of a wealthy heiress who's insecure about her humble background and is about to marry the title character in an arranged marriage. Jill Eikenberry played the part in the 1981 original.

Jason Winer will helm "Arthur," produced by Larry Brezner, Chris Bender and Kevin McCormick. Brand, Scott Kroopf, J.C. Spink and Nick Linnen are exec producing

Peter Baynham penned the new "Arthur" script as a vehicle for Brand. Baynham was a writer on Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" and "Bruno."

Nolte will play the father to Garner's character and portray a tough, self-made millionaire who threatens Arthur with personal harm if he doesn't do right by his daughter.

Garner's starring in and producing the indie comedy "Butter" with Mike De Luca and TWC. She was recently seen in the romantic comedy, "Valentine's Day."

Nolte will be seen next in Lionsgate's actioner "Warrior." He's been cast in the HBO pilot "Luck."
