Film lands 'Hick' chick

Moretz to star in indie coming-of-age story

Chloe Moretz arrives at the Los Angeles bow of 'Kick-Ass.'

"Hit Girl" Chloe Moretz of "Kick-Ass" will topline Derick Martini's indie coming-of-age story "Hick," an adaptation of Andrea Portes' novel.

Christian Taylor of Taylor Lane Prods. and Steven Siebert of Lighthouse Entertainment are producing the $6 million project, which is gearing up for a start later this year in New Mexico.

Portes wrote the script based on her debut novel, which tracks a 13-year-old Nebraska girl who gets more than she bargained for when she runs away to Las Vegas.

Moretz will be next seen in Overture's "Let Me In," and is set to star in Martin Scorsese's upcoming "The Invention of Hugo Cabret."

Taylor's developing "The Walls" with director Kimberly Peirce and writer Keir Pearson.
