Shatner, Cineflix get 'Weird'

Reality series launches at Mip TV

CANNES — Thesp William Shatner and CEO of Cineflix Programming, Simon Lloyd, unveiled reality show "Weird or What" at Mip TV Monday.

Produced by Cineflix and hosted by Shatner, the series will be skedded in primetime on Discovery in the U.S. and the History Channel in Canada.

It will examine and analyze some of the weirdest unsolved cases around the world — ranging from paranormal phenomena, medical oddities and bizarre natural disasters.

During the presser, Shatner stressed that the show's format aims at reinventing the science genre.

"We're looking at weird circumstances but we're presenting them in a light-hearted, jaunty way," said Shatner. "We're not taking ourselves too seriously."

The show is exec produced by Shatner, Lloyd and Cineflix's Rod Parker.

"We've received multiple offers from nearly every territories," said Lloyd. "It's MIP at its best."
