The Weinstein Co. has come aboard the comedy "Butter" with Jennifer Garner starring and producing along with Mike De Luca. Production's set to begin next month in Louisiana.

"Butter" is set in the Midwest and centers on an adopted girl who discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman -- portrayed by Garner -- in their town's annual contest. "Butter" was penned by Jason Micallef and will be directed by Jim Fields Smith.

Garner noted that this will be the first project for her production company Vandalia Films. "I can't wait to start churning," she added.

Garner was recently seen in the romantic comedy, "Valentine's Day." She started her own production company five years ago with her personal assistant of many years, Juliana Janes. The company is named after the original name for the state of West Virginia, where Garner is a native.

Vandalia has three other feature projects in development -- "Arranged" with Mark Gordon and director Gary Winick; "Sabbatical" for Disney; and "3 Days in Europe" alongside Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin of Oni Press. Vandalia Films also has a first look production deal with ABC Television.

De Luca just wrapped on the David Fincher-directed "The Social Network," and is in post-production on "Priest" for Screen Gems, starring Paul Bettany.
