Freeman
The American Society of Cinematographers has tapped Morgan Freeman as the recipient of its Board of Governors Award.
Kudo, presented for "significant contributions to advancing the art of filmmaking," will be given to Freeman at the 24th Annual ASC Awards on Saturday at the Century Plaza.
"Morgan Freeman is a consummate actor and producer who devotes his considerable talent and influence to projects that make a difference," said ASC president Michael Goi.
Previous recipients include Gregory Peck, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Robert Wise, Francis Ford Coppola and Robert Altman.
Freeman and Lori McCreary founded Revelations Entertainment in 1997 and the company has produced and co-produced 10 films, including "Invictus," which has earned Freeman an Oscar nom for best actor. He won the supporting actor Oscar for 2004's "Million Dollar Baby."
