Thesps to star in indie thriller based on novel

Ethan Hawke is set to star opposite Kristin Scott Thomas in the indie "The Woman in the Fifth."

Polish helmer Pawel Pawlikowski is directing.

Based on Douglas Kennedy's tome, the thriller revolves around an American who has fled to Paris in the wake of a scandal that cost him his job as a film lecturer at a small university. He takes up with a widow who might be involved in a series of murders.

Haut et Court is producing, while Film4 is co-financing. Memento Films is handling international sales (film was offered to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin).

Pawlikowski is set to begin lensing in March in Paris.

Hawke will next be seen in "Brooklyn's Finest," which opens March 5. Scott Thomas' latest film is "Nowhere Boy." which premiered at Sundance.
