NBC eyes Paul Reiser pilot

Network close to ordering single-camera comedy from WB TV

NBC is close to sealing a pilot order for a comedy from "Mad About You" alum Paul Reiser and Warner Bros. TV.

Reiser wrote the pilot on spec and will star in the single-camera project. It revolves around a group of male friends. Reiser is understood to have at least a few more completed scripts in hand.

Jonathan Shapiro ("Life," "The Practice") is onboard as an exec producer with Reiser.

NBC and Warner Bros. declined to comment.

Reiser's "Mad About You," which ran from 1992-99, was a staple of the Peacock's primetime sked during the heyday of "Must See TV."

Reiser is repped by UTA, which packaged the project.
