Fox adds to sketch chest

'Naked But Funny' is latest to get an order

'Mad TV'

Fox is looking to replenish its sketch stockpiles since the end of 'Mad TV,' which included spoofs of shows such as 'Lost.'

Fox has given a presentation order to the sketch comedy project "Naked But Funny."

"Naked" reps the net's latest piece of development in the sketch world -- a genre Fox knows well, having been the home to early 1990s hit "In Living Color," as well as to 14 seasons of "Mad TV."

But "Mad TV" ended its lengthy run last spring -- and as Fox looks to replenish its comedy stockpile by developing a wide variety of laffers, that includes revisiting the sketch world.

Network has already greenlighted a half-hour pilot presentation from Dana Carvey and Spike Feresten, who are shooting a new sketch comedy project next month (Daily Variety, Jan. 11). And in December, the net handed a pilot order to "Inside Jokes," a comedy project from Merv Griffin Entertainment and "Entourage" star Kevin Connolly.

As for "Naked But Funny," show comes from "Last Comic Standing" exec producers Peter Engel and Barry Katz as well as exec producer Eric Weinberg. Peter Engel Prods. and New Wave Entertainment are the producers.

Casting has begun on the project, which could shoot as soon as next month.
