Distrib Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan made $190 million at the box office in the first 11 months of the year, an all-time company record that beat its 2007 high of $176 million.
The result makes SPEJ the top earner among foreign distribs in Japan.
The figure was boosted by the release of Michael Jackson docu "This Is It," which finished with $48 million.
With sci-fi smash "2012" recording $33 million since its Dec. 5 bow, SPEJ looks likely to finish the year north of the ¥20 billion ($217 million) milestone.
