"Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes has tapped Rachel Eggebeen to join her production company.

Eggebeen will serve as a development exec at Shondaland, the shingle Rhimes runs with producing partner Betsy Beers. Together with Rhimes and Beers, Eggebeen will oversee Shondaland's expanding development roster.

She previously worked in development and production at Paramount Vantage, which she joined at its 2006 launch. Eggebeen also worked as a creative executive at Section Eight, was a producer on Scott Burns' "PU-239," and has served as an assistant for helmers Michael Mann and Charles Shyer.

Rhimes said Eggebeen's hire was necessary given "the growth that Shondaland has experienced in the past year. … We look forward to the creative expertise that Rachel brings to the company."

Shondaland is set up at ABC TV Studios, where it's in the middle of a multi-year overall deal.

Projects in the works at the shingle include marriage-oriented "Year to Year," from scribe J.J. Philbin ("Heroes"); the doctor drama "Off the Map," by Jenna Bans ("Grey's Anatomy"); and San Francisco-set romantic crime drama "Love and Death," from Mark Wilding ("Grey's Anatomy").
