Project to air Sundays in February 2011

Discovery Studios has tapped Beth Hoppe to serve as exec producer on its "Curiosity: The Questions of Life" TV event.

Hoppe, who most recently served as president/CEO of New York-based Optomen Prods., will report to Discovery Studios prexy Carole Tomko and also work with Discovery Communications founder and chairman John Hendricks.

Program is part of Discovery's "Curiosity Project" and will launch in February 2011, airing Sundays at 8 p.m.

"Curiosity: The Questions of Life" will air over five years, with 12 episodes each year. Each episode will address questions in fields such as space, biology, geology, medicine, physics, technology, nature, the human mind and history.

"Beth has the ideal skill set and artistic vision needed to capture Discovery's mission of 'satisfying curiosity,'" Hendricks said.

Hoppe's credits also include serving as director of science programming at pubcaster WNET New York and also exec produced "Frontier House" and "Colonial House." She also was a series producer at WGBH Boston for "Nova."
