Trio to adapt graphic novel 'The Piper'

Zenescope, Persistent, Pantry to produce

Zenescope Entertainment, Persistent Entertainment ("Passengers") and Pantry Films ("Felon") are teaming to produce the film adaptation of Zenescope's graphic novel "The Piper." The cinematic version of the Pied Piper of Hamelin will introduce a darker version of the fable through the eyes of a much-bullied high school band student who unintentionally channels the spirit of the Pied Piper, only to realize the terrifying consequences of his actions are well beyond his control.

Persistent, headed by Matthew Rhodes, has produced over 20 films including "Southland Tales" and "Passengers" for Mandate/Sony starring Anne Hathaway. Pantry and producer Dan Keston recently wrapped "Pete Smalls is Dead," starring Peter Dinklage, Tim Roth, and Steve Buscemi and completed post on "Norman," starring Richard Jenkins.

Zenescope's rebranded other well-known titles with a sinister edge such as "Grimm Fairy Tales" and "The Straw Men." Founders Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco are also attached to exec produce "The Piper" along with Dave Brown of Sleeping Giant Entertainment.
