Academy Foundation grant to Outfest

$30,000 will go to outreach toward young adults

Outfest 2010: The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will receive a $30,000 Academy Foundation grant to support its efforts in creating community between filmmakers and audiences, specifically outreach to youth audiences between 18 and 25.

"To be recognized by the Academy Foundation for inclusion in such a distinguished and prestigious grant program is not only an honor but a testament to the filmmakers who will benefit from these resources," commented Outfest exec director Kirsten Schaffer. "It is very exciting to know that we will be able to use these funds to expand our outreach and cultivate new audiences."

Outfest, entering its 28th year on the fest circuit, aims to showcase, nurture and protect the artistry, stories and images of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film while creating a forum for stories that reflect LGBT lives.
