USA has renewed "Psych" for a 16-episode fifth season in 2010-11, setting the stage for the skein to become the cabler's longest-running original scripted series in production.

Starring James Roday and Dule Hill, "Psych" will take over USA's longevity crown after the series finale of "Monk" airs Dec. 4.

The fifth season of "Psych" will launch in summer 2010. The fourth season is running in two installments, with the second portion launching in January.

The Universal Cable Prods. series is exec produced by Steve Franks, Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze, in association with Tagline Pictures. Mel Damski serves as executive producer and director.
