The fledgling daytime yakker from distrib Debmar-Mercury has been renewed through the 2011-12 season on Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas.
"Wendy Williams" has been a quiet syndie success story this season, delivering promising numbers with young femmes. The long-term renewals by the Fox outlets in key major markets bodes well for the show's future.
"There was no question that we wanted to renew 'The Wendy Williams Show' given what we've seen thus far in both content and ratings," said Frank Cicha, senior veep of programming for Fox Television Stations.
Taped in New York, the talker is a blend of topical issues, celeb and pop culture buzz and guests, hosted by former Gotham radio personality and self-help author Williams. The show got a test run in the summer of 2008 on four Fox O&Os prior to its national rollout this past July.
