He will receive the kudo at the 24th annual ASC awards ceremonies at the Century Plaza on Feb. 27.
Flinn has earned Emmy nominations for "Magnum P.I.," "Jake and the Fatman," "The Operation," "Babylon 5" and "Hunter: Back in Force." He also won an ASC award for a 1993 episode of "Jake and the Fatman."
Flinn's additional credits include "Hill Street Blues," "Gilmore Girls" and currently "Saving Grace."
His grandfather, John C. Flinn, Sr., was a producer and VP of Cecil B. DeMille Prods., the forerunner of Paramount Pictures. His father, John C. Flinn Jr., was director of advertising and publicity for Allied Artists and Columbia Pictures.
Flinn got his first camera crew job as a second assistant on the TV series "The Wackiest Ship in the Army." He earned his first cinematography credit in 1979 for "The Flame Is Love," a television movie produced in Ireland.
