The freshman feature of Mariana Chenillo, "Nora’s Will" is about a divorced man who has to figure out what to do with his ex’s body after she commits suicide.
Cuban Juan Carlos Tabio’s "El cuerno de la abundancia" (Horn of Plenty), a comedy about a village’s search for a hidden treasure, received the jury’s special prize and the audience pick in the international competition at Latin America’s only member of Fiapf’s 13 Competitive Feature Film selection, a rank alongside Berlin, Cannes and Venice.
Israeli Elia Suleiman won director for "The Time That Remains," about the creation of Israel. The film won the top award from ACCA, Argentina’s crix association.
"Vikingo" (Viking), a biker drama by Argentina’s Jose Campusano, cooped the top nod from Fipresci, the international film critics association and also received a special mention from the jury.
Allison Janney took actress for her performance in American director Todd Solondz’s family drama "Life During Wartime," while Gary Piquer took actor for Uruguayan helmer Alvaro Brechner’s strongman comedy "Mal dia para pescar" (Bad Day to Go Fishing).
Spanish friendship comedy "V.O.S.," written and directed by Cesc Gay, won screenplay.
Fest kicked off Nov. 6.
