'Grey's' continues Thursday streak

ABC series gives network narrow victory over CBS

"Grey's Anatomy" was the top-ranked non-sports broadcast among viewers 18-49 for the eighth consecutive Thursday, leading ABC to a narrow primetime victory over CBS. Both networks saw an increase in viewers compared to the previous week.

"Grey's" (5.4 rating/13 share in 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall) fought off "CSI" (4.0/10, 16.9 million) at 9 p.m., despite the CBS drama posting a season high in audience as its three-part crossover with "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY" concluded. From 9 to 9:30 p.m., CSI effectively matched "The Office" (4.0/10, 7.8 million) in the demo while more than doubling the NBC comedy's overall viewership.

The Peacock's "30 Rock" (2.9/7, 5.8 million) was tops among men 18-34 against its competition. Fox offered "Fringe" (2.2/5, 5.9 million), while the CW had "Supernatural" (1.3/3, 2.8 million).

Thursday began with CBS' "Survivor" (4.0/11, 13.2 million) easily winning at 8 p.m. For second-place honors in the timeslot, Fox's "Bones" (2.9/8, 9.8 million) bested ABC's "FlashForward" (2.6/7, 8.3 million), the latter almost exactly matching its performance from the previous week.

NBC sitcoms "Community" (2.1/6, 5.1 million) and "Parks and Recreation" (2.1/6, 4.7 million) fought off the CW's "The Vampire Diaries" (2.0/5, 4.3 million). "Community" won its timeslot among men 18-34, while "Diaries" did so among women 18-34.

At 10 p.m., ABC's "Private Practice" (3.9/11, 10.2 million) had its best performance in 18-49 since its season premiere. CBS' "The Mentalist" (3.5/10, 15.6 million) was second among all Thursday programs in overall viewers. "The Jay Leno Show" (1.6/4, 4.6 million) turned in a typical Thursday performance.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC 4.0/10, CBS 3.8/10, Fox 2.5/7, NBC 2.4/6, CW 1.7/4, Univision 1.3/4.

In total viewers: CBS 15.2 million, ABC 11.0 million, Fox 7.9 million, NBC 5.4 million, CW 3.5 million, Univision 3.3 million.
