Kudo recognizes "outstanding body of work that has significantly contributed to the art and/or science of the visual effects society." Cameron's movies have done both.
"Terminator 2" and "The Abyss" helped ignite the digital vfx revolution. "Titanic" pushed the boundaries on computer generated imagery. Cameron's next pic, "Avatar," is one of the most technologically ambitious vfx productions ever mounted.
Cameron joins Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, and Frank Marshall & Kathleen Kennedy as VES Lifetime Achievement honorees.
The VES Awards will be presented Feb. 28 at the Century Plaza Hotel.
