'Lopez Tonight' opens strong

New talk show brings audiences to TBS

"Lopez Tonight" opened to 3.1 million viewers Monday night as the new TBS talkshow also premiered on Turner nets TNT and TruTV.

On TBS alone, "Lopez" drew 1.7 million, with 1 million in the 18-49 demo. Latter number is more than the current season averages for other talkers "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson," "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." On the cable side, "Lopez" also fared better than "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart."

TBS has been airing syndie sitcoms in the 11 p.m. slot and saw about a 70% improvement with "Lopez." Monday's guests were Ellen DeGeneres, Eva Longoria-Parker, Kobe Bryant and Carlos Santana.

Skein is produced by 2.2 Prods., Paramedia and Telepictures. Lopez and Jim Paratore are exec producers.
