Film, which marks the Hot Ticket's third release since launching in May 2008, will feature Chesney's recently wrapped Sun City Carnival tour. "Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D" will begin a limited engagement run in April 2010.
"Kenny Chesney is one of the most popular performers in the world, so we thought he was a great choice for a Hot Ticket presentation," said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing.
"(The film) is the perfect way to experience the intensity (of a Chesney concert) even closer than the front row.²
Joe Thomas helmed the film, which features 3D footage shot over six nights in five locations -- Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, Foxboro, Mass. and Indianapolis -- using 22 3D camera rigs. The rigs included state-of-the-art systems from 3ality Digital, which were outfitted with Sony 1500-series professional digital cameras.
"It was an amazing -- and at times scary -- experience to have cameras that close, in the air, in a blimp ... (because) they're everywhere," Chesney said.
The first two pics to unspool for the Hot Ticket were "Cirque du Soleil: Delirium" and the final Broadway performance of "Rent."
