Magnolia has 'Good Heart'

Cox, Dano star in Kari-directed feature

Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to Dagur Kari's "The Good Heart," starring Brian Cox, Paul Dano and Isild Le Besco.

The film, which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival, centers on the grouchy owner of a New York dive that serves as home to a motley assortment of professional drinkers. Skuli Malmquist produced.

"The Good Heart" will be released next year, first on Magnolia's video-on-demand program followed a month later by a theatrical release. It's the third feature film from Kari following "Noi" and "Dark Horse."

Wild Bunch, a financier of the film, is selling the picture internationally.
