Samuels rounds out the production company's hires under Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis. Other top hires include reality-game show topper Bob Boden, Linda M. Steiner, head of girls and preschool programming and Lisa Licht, general manager, Hasbro Studios.
Samuels will oversee production on a range of programming for the L.A.-based Hasbro Studios, which was formed in part to produce series for the kids channel set to launch next year under a joint venture between Discovery and Hasbro.
Her resume includes stints at CBS TV Distribution and NBC. At CBS TV Distribution, Samuels worked on shows such as "Rachael Ray," "The Doctors" and "Entertainment Tonight."
She spent more than a decade at NBC, working on "Access Hollywood," among other shows.
"I've had the great fortune to work on some of the best brands on television," Samuels said. "However, as a working mom, I've always had a personal and professional passion to make great television for kids, and in the kid and family arena, Hasbro owns and has access to the best brands in the business."
Hasbro Studios has previously announced that titles it has in the works for TV adaptations include "Romper Room," "Trivial Pursuit," "Scrabble," "My Little Pony," "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe."
"We're in good shape in terms of hiring," Davis said. "We've been successful in attracting a deep bench for the studio."
