Onion, Comedy Central team on show

Duo to produce a half-hour scripted comedy

The Onion is teaming with Comedy Central to produce a half-hour scripted comedy pilot based on the Onion Sports Network website.

Series is designed to appeal to both casual and hardcore fans of sports as well as the Onion's well-defined style of humor. Recent headlines on OSN include "SEC Replay Official Overturns Roe v. Wade" and "Mark McGwire to Teach Cardinal Hitters at What Point in Swing to Evade Congressional Questioning."

"We are thrilled to be in business with a cultural icon like the Onion to give our audience the sports show they deserve," said Comedy Central original programming and development prexy Lauren Corrao said. Onion vets Julie Smith and Will Graham will exec produce.
