There were 515 screenings, attended by approximately 124,000 filmgoers, up from 115,000 in 2008.
The fest hosted 193 feature films, 113 short films from 46 countries including 15 world premieres.
UK Film Council gave the LFF £1.8 million ($2.7 million) to help raise the profile of the event in order to secure London's position as a major international launch pad for studio and indie films.
Over 550 filmmakers attend the festival including, Wes Anderson, whose film "Fantastic Mr. Fox" opened the festival. Other directors with films in the festival such as Grant Heslov ("The Men Who Stare at Goats"), Jane Campion ("Bright Star"), Jason Reitman ("Up in the Air") made the trek to London.
Talent also came out in force, with Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Viggo Mortensen, George Clooney, Julianne Moore and others attending the 16-day event.
