Ben Kingsley will be presented with an honorary Giraldillo Nov. 8 for career achievement. Northern Ireland-set thriller "Fifty Dead Man Walking," starring Kingsley, opens Seville along with Danis Tanovic's "Triage."
Euro film titles having international premieres include: Manyar I. Parwan's Danish pic "Where Heaven Falls"; Eva Dahr's love story "The Orange Girl," co-produced by Seville-based Jaleo Films; and Maurizio Scaparro's Italian stage drama "The Last Pulcinella."
Fest closer "Pulcinella" will screen as a special tribute to Spain's influential screenwriter Rafael Azcona, who died last year. Helmer Fernando Trueba, who produced the Oscar-winning Azcona co-scripted "Belle epoque," receives a career achievement award as well at the fest.
Soren Staermose, producer of Swedish international hit "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," an adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel, inaugurates the Industry Forum, lecturing on new production models. He picks up the fest's Seville Intl. Locations Expo Industry Award.
The City of Seville Award goes this year to Italian maestro cinematographer Vittorio Storaro.
An established tradition in Seville: The European Film Academy will announce the EFA Award nominations on Nov. 7.
