Producers have already begun to move. Ibon Cormenzana's Pegaso Pictures AIE is co-producing Edward and Rory McHenry's "Jackboots."
Meanwhile, in September, the region of Valencia, which includes Alicante's Ciudad de la Luz studios, announced E18 million ($26.9 million) in rebates on local spending by international shoots through 2011.
Top facility: Alicante's $447 million Ciudad de la Luz studios. This September, Antena 3 Films TV movie "The Blue Skin," by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, inaugurated the Ciudad's 328-foot by 262-foot water tank. Ciudad's latest international shoots were Danis Tanovic's Colin Farrell starrer "Triage" and Bernard Rose comedy "Mr. Nice."
Key contacts: Denise O'Dell's Kanzaman, the Spanish co-producer of "Mr. Nice" and Nia Vardalos' "My Life in Ruins," is internationally well-connected and owns sales agent 6 Sales. Tornasol Films created Valencia-based Castafiore for shoots tapping regional rebates, and is a pioneer in using AIE tax vehicles. Production-services company Calle Cruzada's general manager Jose Luis Escolar line-produced "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Agora."
