Comedy Central has given a six-episode greenlight to a half-hour sketch series starring Nick Swardson ("Reno 911!").

Skein will feature comedy skits, digital shorts and street interviews, along with animation inspired by Swardson's popular Web project "Gay Robot." Production is set to begin in November for a 2010 launch.

Swardson has also appeared on Comedy Central in his own standup specials, most recently on Oct. 11. He has a lead role and shares a writing credit with Adam Sandler and Allen Covert in the upcoming "Born to Be a Star." Swardson and Tom Gianas ("The Man Show") are exec producing the sketch skein, backed by Sandler's Happy Madison Prods. and Sony Pictures TV.
