The actress has also nabbed a role in the Will Ferrell-Mark Wahlberg starrer "The Other Guys" for Columbia Pictures.
"Cedar Rapids" centers on a sad-sack insurance agent (Helms) who goes to an industry convention to try to save the jobs of his colleagues. Heche portrays a woman who befriends him.
Alexander Payne is producing the comedy, which is being helmed by Miguel Arteta. Screenplay was written by Phil Johnston, who developed it with Helms.
In "Other Guys," Heche plays a businesswoman who hires cops, played by Ferrell and Wahlberg, to look into financial losses at her company.
Heche has a recurring role on HBO's "Hung."
She is repped by CAA and Untitled.
