Farmiga, Caan partner for 'Crime'

The picture, hatched by Reeves and his Company Films partner Stephen Hamel, is fast gathering accomplices. David Mimran and Jordan Schur of Mimran Schur Pictures have come aboard to co-finance and produce, and GK Films affiliate Parlay Films has been retained to sell foreign territories.
Reeves plays a big-hearted man who is falsely accused of robbing a bank in Buffalo, and the film is set to begin production in upstate New York later this year. Reeves is producing with Mimran, Schur, Hamel and Lemore Syvan ("The Private Lives of Pippa Lee"). Scott Fischer will be executive producer.
Farmiga, who'll play the romantic interest of Reeves' character, will next be seen with George Clooney in the Jason Reitman-directed "Up in the Air." She also stars in the Niki Caro-directed "The Vintner's Luck." Both films premiered at Toronto.
Mimran and Schur formed their production company earlier this year and began with the John Curran-directed psychological thriller "Stone," which stars Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich. The pic is in post-production.
Both come from the music business, where Schur founded Flip Records and served as Geffen Records prexy and also founded the Suretone Entertainment Group and was a principal in the fashion house Michon Schur. Mimran founded Savage Records and has also been a corporate investment banker. For the last decade, he was president of an international food processing, grain trading and shipping conglom headquartered in Monaco, with operations on Europe and West Africa.
Schur said he and Mimran bring their own coin to the table and an artist-friendly expertise honed from their music business days.
"We have several other scripts that we'll package into movies ourselves, but we thought Sacha's script was a genius comic fable, and we've become close to Keanu and look forward to a long relationship," Schur said.
