O'Neill Theater gets grant

Funds to go towards new play development

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has picked up a $40,000 grant from the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust.

Funds will go toward the development of new plays at the 2010 and 2011 editions of the O'Neill's annual National Playwrights Conference, held every summer in Waterford, Conn.

The 45-year-old conference has helped launch new works from August Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein and John Guare, among many others. Org recently closed the open submission period for works to be considered for its 2010 summer session.
