Exhibit, on display at the Italian Cultural Institute in Westwood Nov. 11-27, will feature 25 photographs of Italian actors re-creating scenes from classic films. Images include Maria Grazia Cucinotta and Daniele Liotti as Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni in Vittorio De Sica's 1965 Oscar winner "Ieri, oggi, domani" (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow), Pierfrancesco Favino as Eli Wallach in Sergio Leone's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and Luisa Ranieri as Silvana Mangano in a scene from 1951 Oscar nominee "Bitter Rice."
Kirkland shot the images for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair in celebration of his 50 years behind the camera.
Cinema Italian Style's pic screenings, running Nov. 10-18, will open with the U.S. premiere of Italy's foreign-language film Oscar submission, Giuseppe Tornatore's "Baaria," and close with Marco Bellocchio's fest fave "Vincere." Pics will unspool at American Cinematheque theaters in Santa Monica and Hollywood.
