Warner Bros. is looking for "Missing Links," buying the golf novel and setting it up with Steve Carell to produce as a comedy through his studio-based Carousel Prods. shingle.
Bobby Cohen is also producing, and Carousel's Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock will exec produce.
Jay Lavender ("The Break-Up") is attached to adapt Rick Reilly's tale of a group of golfing buddies at a run-down Boston course. The group discovers they've been playing next to an elite club and holds a competition to decide who will be first to play a round.
Carell is starring opposite Tina Fey in Fox comedy "Date Night," due out next April. Reilly's a columnist for ESPN the Magazine and ESPN.com. Cohen was a producer on "Revolutionary Road."
