The system, which collects ticket sales data from 800 theaters covering 2,800 screens in Russia, allows subscribers to see reports about their movies via the Internet at any time of day.
Rentrak has opened a Moscow office to service clients that already include Walt Disney Motion Pictures Intl., Paramount Pictures Intl., Sony Pictures Releases Intl., Universal Pictures Intl., Warner Bros. Pictures Intl. and Russian distrib Central Partnership.
"With the increasing importance of international box office revenue, it is more vital than ever for the motion picture industry to have access to the most timely, accurate and in-depth data and analytical services to maximize distribution operations," said Ron Giambra, Rentrak exec VP of theatrical worldwide.
The growing importance of international B.O. to Hollywood is underlined by the fact that 62% of total global revenue came from overseas markets last year, according to Rentrak.
For the first three quarters of 2009, international box office receipts have driven $12 billion in sales, or 61% of worldwide B.O. receipts.
Rentrak also offers Box Office Essentials in North America, Brazil, Hong Kong and India.
