Tuesday night's galas covering comedy, drama, variety and children and youth programming saw pubcaster CBC's "The Tudors" pick up four Geminis for production design, photography, picture editing and sound in a dramatic series, while CTV's "Flashpoint" nabbed guest perf in a dramatic series for actor (Henry Czerny) and actress (Tatiana Maslany) and best main title design.
Best TV movie winner "Elijah," a biopic about Manitoba first nations' icon Elijah Harper, also nabbed the writing prize for Blake Corbet. Sci-fi show "Stargate Atlantis" won for dramatic series writing and make-up.
Shaftesbury Films' popular "Life With Derek" was named best children's fiction series with Michael Seater picking up a perf award in the same category.
Helmer Barbara Willis Sweete's "The Young Romantic" (Rhombus Media), about Chinese pianist Yundi Li's preparation for his Berlin Philharmonic bow with maestro Seiji Ozawa, hit the stage both nights, winning performing arts program and direction, photography and editing nods in the same category.
On Monday night, the National Film Board's "The Wild Horse Redemption" won for original music and photography in a documentary, while CBC dominated the news and sports awards with its 2008 Beijing Olympics coverage and hockey and current affairs programming.
And the Gemini party's not over. The marathon will conclude Nov. 14 in Calgary's Stampede Corral, where 18 Geminis for prestige categories including series and lead acting awards will be handed out at a gala hosted by comedian Ron James.
