"Stupid" has a script order at ABC. If it moves forward, Greer would star as Kas Sienkiewicz, a Manhattanite who has a fling with a park ranger while on safari in South Africa. She returns home -- and the ranger tracks her down in New York.
Elaine Szewczyk, who wrote the novel, is also on board the laffer as a writer and co-exec producer; Allan Loeb, Steven Pearl and Richard Lewis will serve as non-writing exec producers. ABC Studios will produce.
Project wound up at the Alphabet net after a bidding competish among several webs. Besides starring in "Miss Guided" for ABC, the actress lends her voice to Nick at Nite's "Glenn Martin, DDS" and to FX's upcoming "Archer."
In features, Greer's credits include Ed Zwick's "Love and Other Drugs," opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, and helmer Tom Dey's "Marmaduke."
Meanwhile, ABC has also given a script-plus-penalty order to "We Are Here," a comedy from scribe Hilary Winston ("My Name Is Earl"), who will exec produce with Anthony and Joe Russo.
Project centers on four friends from the U. of Texas, all of whom still live in Austin, but deal with the arrival of adulthood in different ways.
Winston's credits include "Community." Sony Pictures TV is behind the project.
