ABC gives full-season order to 'Castle'

Nathan Fillion starrer gets back nine order

'Castle'

The Alphabet's 'Castle' has shown improved ratings in its Monday timeslot.

ABC has given a full-season coronation to "Castle," picking up the sophomore series' back nine episodes.

"Castle" has placed a decent, though not overly spectacular, second place among the broadcasters in its Monday night 10 p.m. timeslot, averaging a 2.5 rating/7 share among adults 18-49 and 10.1 million viewers overall.

Show, which bowed last year as a midseason entry, has aired five segs so far this season. "Castle" has shown a slight uptick in recent weeks -- leading to Wednesday's pickup.

"Castle" has also improved its timeslot vs. last year at this time by 4% in adults 18-49. And when DVR playback is added in, the show's viewership rises by 1.6 million, and its 18-49 rating improves by 26%.

The mystery skein stars Nathan Fillion as a novelist who helps a police detective (Stana Katic) solve crimes. Show also stars Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Tamala Jones, Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever.

Andrew Marlowe is exec producer, along with Rob Bowman, Rene Echevarria, Laurie Zaks and Armyan Bernstein.

Meanwhile, Alphabet shows still waiting word on a back nine pickup include Tuesday and Wednesday 10 p.m. entries "The Forgotten" and "Eastwick." "Eastwick" is already the focus of a grassroots "save our show" campaign, even though the show hasn't been yanked.

Among comedies, "Hank" remains the odd man out, as ABC previously picked up the rest of its Wednesday night laffers.
