"Strange" is a co-production between Ross Katz and Fred Berger's Civil Dawn Pictures in L.A. and John Penotti and Tim Williams' New York-based GreeneStreet Films.
The screenplay is based on John Searles' eponymous novel and written by Searles and Eric Garcia ("Matchstick Men").
"Strange" centers on a young woman who, five years after the death of her boyfriend, tells his parents she is pregnant with his baby.
"It's a dramatic thriller with a big heart in the line of 'Fargo' and 'A Simple Plan,'" Alex Pastor told Daily Variety.
"Strange" is now being cast with shooting skedded for February-March. Film Nation will handle international rights.
Katz's projects include "The Challenge," a co-production with George Clooney and Grant Heslov's Smoke House.
